Enable Commenting Rights for an App

Enable Commenting Rights for an App By: Chris Gallagher

Commenting is a feature that enables specific users as well as visitors to comment on an app.  If this feature is available for an app, it must be enabled.  You can also set restrictions so that only select individual users or groups of users may post app comments. These users will, of course, need to sign in before they can post comments.

If the recommended Require Approval setting has been applied, comments will appear on the end-user website after the comments have been reviewed and approved.

Here's how you enable Commenting Rights.

  1. In Site Manager, navigate to the app.
  2. Edit the app.
  3. Click Options. A new window displays.
  4. Click the Social Settings tab. Social Settings options display.
  5. Activate the Commenting checkbox. Commenting Options display.
  6. Apply Commenting Options as desired. (We recommend that you activate Require Approval.)
  7. Click the Commenting Rights tab. The Commenting Rights window displays.

Here's how you assign Commenting Rights to individual users.

  1. In Site Manager, navigate to the App.
  2. Edit the app.
  3. Click Options. A new window displays.
  4. Click the Commenting Rights tab.
  5. Click Assign User. The Add User dialog displays.
  6. Enter all or part of the users first, last, or username in the Search field.
  7. Click Search. Matching names display.
  8. Click Select to the right of the user to move the user to Selected Users area of the window.
  9. Click Add. The Commenting Rights tab displays with the names of the selected individuals listed.
  10. Click Save. The App displays.

Here's how you assign Commenting Rights to groups of users.

  1. In Site Manager, navigate to the app.
  2. Edit the app.
  3. Click Options. A new window displays.
  4. Click Assign Group.  The Add Group dialog displays.
  5. Enter all or part of a group name in the Search field.
  6. Click Search. Matching group names display.
  7. Or choose a Group Category from the drop-down list to display groups associated with a category.
  8. Click Select to the right of the group to move the group to the Selected Groups area of the window.
  9. Click Add. The Commenting Rights tab displays with the names of the selected groups listed.
  10. Click Save. The App displays.

Note:  If Commenting Rights has not been restricted to individual users or groups of users, any visitor to your end-user website can add comments.
