Site Translator Options

Site Translator Options By: Michael Kuzniar

Listed below are the available translator options for a site.

We recommend that you select the customized Web Community Manager API Translator. With this option, you will select which translator API it will use, either Google Translate™ or Microsoft® Translator. Be advised that with this option, you will be charged by Google or Microsoft to use their service. You will need to set up an account with either Google or Microsoft, receive an API key and then provide that key to Web Community Manager so that we can complete your translator customization.

1.  Custom Web Community Manager API Translator (Google Translate or Microsoft Translator Solution)

  • This translator has no known issues and was custom built to work with Web Community Manager.
  • This option requires that you to sign up with either Google or Microsoft and pay to use either of their Translator APIs.
  • You receive a special key from Google or Microsoft. With this key, we complete your translator customization.
  • This option will not translate PDF files.
  • This option displays no Google or Microsoft branding.
  • There are Usage Fees and Limitations for both Google and Microsoft options.

2.  Frameset Translator (Google Solution)

  • This option is a free Google solution.
  • The frameset redraws the page when it translates. This option has caused problems with Cross-Domain scripting.
  • This option renders the page in a frameset. This can and has caused various issues with complex embeds.
  • This option will translate PDF files as well as web pages.
  • This option displays Google branding.

3.  Branded In-Place Translator (Google Solution)

  • This option is a free Google solution.
  • This option looks similar to the Frameset Translator, but works like the Custom Web Community Manager API Translator.
  • This option translates within the same window.
  • This option will not translate PDF files.
  • This option displays Google Branding.
