Switching Templates and Missing Apps

Switching Templates and Missing Apps By: Michael Kuzniar

When you change to a different template for a site, you may notice that an app or apps have disappeared. This occurs when you apply a template having fewer regions than the one previously applied to the site. The location for the missing apps no longer exists and the apps do not display. The still exist however, and you can place them within the regions of the newly applied template. Here’s what you do.

  1. In Site Manager, navigate to the site or subsite where you applied the new template.
  2. Click Actions to the right of your homepage and select Edit Page from the drop-down menu. The page opens in Edit mode.
  3. Under Actions, select Manage Apps & Layout. The page opens in Design mode.
  4. Click Add App. The Available Apps dialog displays.
  5. Click Select an existing App. The Add Existing Apps dialog displays.
  6. Using either the By Page or By Type tabs, locate your missing app and click the check box to the left of it to select it. The check box turns green.
  7. Click Save. The app is placed in Region A and you are returned to the page in Design mode.
  8. If Region A is not the correct location for the app, drag it to the proper region.
  9. Click I’m Done when you have completed adding your missing apps. You are returned to the page in Edit mode.
