Create a Friendly Web Address Using the Friendly Web Address Mappings Tool

Create a Friendly Web Address Using the Friendly Web Address Mappings Tool By: Holly Vaughn

You create Friendly Web Address Mappings by associating a text string with an address. Once the association is made, all a visitor would need to do is append the text string to the fully qualified domain name of your Schoolwires website.

Here's how you create a Friendly Web Address using the Friendly Web Address Mappings Tool.

  1. In Site Manager, navigate to a Site or Subsite Workspace. The Summary tab displays.
  2. There are two methods to access the Friendly Web Address Mappings Tool.
    • Click Friendly Web Address Mappings under Common Tools.
    • Click the Tools tab, then Friendly Web Address Mappings from the list of Tools.
  3. Click New Mapping. The New Mapping window displays.
  4. Add friendly text for the address in the Friendly Web Address Text field (e.g., athletics). Use no spaces.
  5. There are two methods to complete the Map To This Web Address field.
    • Manually enter the URL (e.g., http://www.sschoolwires.com)
    • Click Browse and select a Site, Channel, Section, and Page from the drop-down lists.
  6. Click Save. The friendly web address is saved and you are returned to the Friendly Web Address Mappings Tool.
